A Lazy New-Year

     Though we were invited to the neighbor's New Years party, we declined in favor of stupid movies and cabbage noodles.  Like Noche Buena, people shot off tons and tons of fireworks at midnight but, unlike Noche Buena, we were hemmed in by trees in all directions.
     In the morning my parents tried to figure out how to transfer money via a company called Xoom which gives a much better exchange rate than the other, but unsuccesfully.  It was boiling hot for most of the morning--the kind of hot that makes you lie on the ground in front of the fan and not move except to groan--but a thunderstorm rolled in a little after noon and the temperature dropped instantly.  Today it's actually a little chilly.
     Yesterday evening, once it had cooled down even further, we walked back to the Puerto Madeiro then to Calle Defensa to get ice cream.  Despite the skepticism of my parents I plan on at least attempting to save a spoon from the store for a friend who collects them.
     We cooked in the evening and watched Legally Blonde, managed to make it to midnight, then went to battle the bedbugs.
